Mona Sinha on How Women Can Use Their Wealth to Do Good

Sept. 16, 2019 2:08 pm ET

Some women aren’t comfortable with the word “philanthropist,” says Mona Sinha, board member of Women Moving Millions, a global group of women making gifts of $1 million or more for the advancement of women and girls. The word can feel like it is reserved for men who feel more confident about their success and their own largess.

Step into the discomfort, Ms. Sinha tells other women. Women need to celebrate their success and realize the impact they can make with their money, she says.

“Breaking barriers and being wealthy or even inheriting wealth is a wonderful thing because you can share that and change other people’s lives,” she says in this Secrets of Wealthy Women podcast with Veronica Dagher. Women who give will realize how they can change the world today and for generations to come, Ms. Sinha says. She also explains why she’s committed to making financial decisions equally with her husband and why the couple is passionate about investments that garner a financial return and also give back to society.
